Alchemy

From lead balloons to golden rays

Alchemy (n.)
1. A type of chemistry, especially in the Middle Ages, that sought to transform ordinary metals into gold and discover a universal cure.

2. A process so effective it seems like magic.

Just over a week ago, it was widely reported that scientists at the CERN Large Hadron Collider had succeeded - briefly - in turning lead into gold. By flying lead atoms very close to each other, they were able to knock out three protons, momentarily transforming the lead into gold. Then it fell apart. So no, the gold market isn’t crashing anytime soon.

But closer to home, you might be wondering why I refer to myself as an Alchemist, rather than a Life Coach. Why my practice is called Angel and Dragon Alchemy.

It’s because of that second definition — and the more mystical, soulful use of the word. The idea of turning the lead of an unawakened life into the gold of an intentional one. Refining the heavy, dull, inherited parts of ourselves into something lighter. Truer. More radiant.

Also, I just really love how it sounds.

But honestly, that’s the heart of what I want to do: help people refine and remember themselves. To become more gold, less lead — whatever that means for you. And I don’t pretend to do the whole process, certainly not single-handed. Coaching is a collaboration. We walk forward together toward the version of yourself you’re ready to become. I may be by your side for a short stretch or a long one — you decide.

I also don’t assume that everyone wants to become more golden in this lifetime. Maybe you’re here to be soft clay. Maybe you’re a gem still resting in the earth. Maybe where you are is already exactly right. That’s welcome here, too.

But me? This is the journey I’m signing up for. The alchemical one.

(By the way — if you're thinking of historical alchemy, no, we won't be fermenting. At least not literally.)
