Are You My Mommy Therapist?

We can't say this often enough. Life coaches are not therapists. We are not counsellors, we are not psychologists, psychotherapists, or psychiatrists. We are not mental health professionals. A lot of what we do may feel like "therapy lite", particularly when we're exploring what's holding you back from being your most authentic, unlimited self - but that's only a small area of overlap.

I cannot by law diagnose or treat a mental illness or disorder. So if I say, "you seem anxious" that is not the same as a psychologist saying "you have an anxiety disorder." No way. Nuh-uh.

This doesn't mean to say that our work together might not ease symptoms of anxiety and depression and apathy and the like, but that is still not treatment of a disorder. If you need help with these things, or worry about harming yourself, you need to see a mental health professional. And I say that out of love, not to dismiss you.

As long as you are healthy enough to do so, we can continue to work together while you get any other help you need. But please don't think that I can replace the training they have. Totally different.

If you think you might be ill, speak to your GP about a referral to someone with a "psych" in their title. If they give you the all-clear, you're welcome to use the form below to introduce yourself and book in a no-obligation (really) 15-minute chat.
